Poodle Mixes / Poodles Hybrid - Cont'd
Because the Poodle is such a popular dog and since this breed is generally hypo-allergenic (some people are allergic to the hair dander) there are many Poodle Hybrid dogs - These are Poodle mixes, Poodles bred to other breeds...And to date, non are yet to receive AKC recognition.
Both of these dogs are a Chi-Poo, also known as the Wapoo or Poochi... As with most other Poodle hybrid dogs, you will have a different looking puppy with each breeding. This Chi-Poo is a combination of a Chihuahua and a Poodle and you never know which breed's genes will be the most dominant in a crossing. More Details
One of the most curious Poodle mixes, this cross between a Dachshund and a Poodle is called a Doodle by the American Canine Hybrid Club and a Doxie Poo by the Designer Dogs Kennel Club. This mix is not AKC recognized.
This is a Poodle hybrid Labradoodle , not to be confused with the purebred Australian Labradoodle which is a different dog. Generally these Poodles mixes are done 50% Poodle to 50% Lab usually resulting in a smooth coat or 25% Lab to 75% Poodle, generally resulting in a more wavy coat.
The Poogle is a cross between a Beagle and a Poodle. As with most Poodle hybrids, one can never know if more of the Poodle will come through or more of the other breed.
Both of these dogs are a Cockapoo, also spelled Cock-A-Poo and sometimes called a Cockerpoo. While not an official AKC recognized breed, there is a Cockapoo Club of America (CCA) who hope to one day have this cross breed recognized.
When you cross a Jack Russell Terrier with a Poodle, you never know if the puppy will look more like a Russel or a Poodle, as shown here with these Poodle hybrid "Jack-a-Poo" dogs.
The Maltipoo is fast becoming one of the most popular Poodle hybrids. This cross between a Maltese dog and a Toy Poodle is owned by Ashley Tisdale and Miley Cyrus. Some call this dog a Malt-a-Poo.
Of all of the Poodle mixes, the Pomapoo (or Poopom) a mix of a Pomeranian and a Poodle most likely causes the most protest, this is due to the fact that the Pomeranian is so famous for it's amazing fluffy coat and crossing the Pom with any other breed takes away this quality.
