Mixed Poodle Breeds / Hybrid Poodles
Because the Poodle is such a popular breed and since this breed is generally hypo-allergenic (some people a
re allergic to the hair dander) there are many crossbreeds - Poodles bred to other breeds...While these dogs are termed "hybrid dogs" or "designer dogs", they are not official AKC recognized dog breeds.
The Debate: There are those whom are "pro hybrid" and those who are "anti-hybrid". For those who are against this, it is because when you take a purebred dog and crossbreed, you lose a bit of the purebred bloodline each time. If the majority of breeders did this, one day all purebred canines would be extinct. The goal of a reputable AKC breeder is to improve and strengthen the line of a certain breed. For those who are "pro hybrid", it should be noted that many our favorite purebred breeds today are a result of crossbreeding many years or even centuries ago.

This mixed Poodle is dubbed the Affenpoo, a cross between the unique Affenpinscher and a Poodle.
This is an Aussiedoodle which is a cross between the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle. Since the Shepard is a larger large dog, the Standard Poodle is usually used to breed this particular hybrid Poodle mix.
This Poodle "hybrid" is one of the lesser known mixes. This is a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Standard Poodle. The name for this mix is the Bernedoodle, also known as the Bernese Mountain Poo.
This is a Bolonoodle, a mix between a Bolognese and a Poodle. The Bolognese is a very unique breed that is pure white and has thick, woolly hair.
The "hybrid dog" Bossi-Poo is a mix of a Boston Terrier and a Poodle, creating a very sturdy dog with a touch of Poodle "softness".
Broodle Griffon, also known as the Brus-a-Poo or the Brussels-Poo is a mix between a Brussels Griffon and a Toy Poodle.
This "hybrid Poodle" is a cross between an Airedale Terrier and a Poodle, called the Airedoodle. In most cases, a Standard sized Poodle is used for this crossbreeding, creating dogs that generally have very long legs. This Airedoodle is only 4 months old.
The Bassetoodle is the term coined up for a Poodle and Basset Hound mixed dog. While this dog clearly shows the Basset Hound in him, many Bassetoodles have more of a Poodle look.
This mixed-breed dog is called a Bich-poo or a Poochon, both are terms used to describe a cross between a Bichon Frise and a Poodle, in most cases, a Toy Poodle is used in the breeding of the "hybrid" canine.
The Bordoodle is a rather rare pairing of a Border Collie and a Standard Poodle, not a very common mix.
While this Boxerdoodle, Boxer and Standard Poodle mix, ended up with a "Poodle type coat", many crossing end up with the sleek, short Boxer dog coat.
Cadoodle is the name given when a Standard Poodle is bred with a Collie.
